I originally took up Pilates to help with a chronic back pain issue but now cannot imagine my life without it.  I am so much stronger than I ever thought was possible and that strength has given me energy and confidence to do other activities such as hiking and cycling that my “old body” would have broken down even attempting. 

My posture has changed, my headaches have disappeared and my back is no longer a problem for me. People have constantly commented on how good I look since I started pilates.  Ashley and James are fabulous instructors and classes are conducted with loads of personal attention to ensure correct technique and maximum benefit for every individual.  But more than that - there is a wonderful sense of humour at the studio and a feeling of being like an extended family, and that is something very special...goes way beyond an exercise class!

After the birth of my first child I really felt the need to improve my core strength and fitness,as well as deal with the back and shoulder pain I was experiencing. One difficulty I faced was that I didn't have anyone to leave my son with, so I needed to be able to take him with me.  James and Ashley made this super easy for me.  I have been going to Pilates for about a year now and it is a part of our week that my son and I really look forward to.  Joel loves Ashley and she is wonderful with him, while at the same time focusing on tailoring my sessions to meet my physical needs.  I have noticed a real change in my core strength which feels great and I no longer suffer from the back and shoulder pain.

I had been doing classes at the Pilates Body prior to becoming pregnant and I really enjoyed the small group classes.  I was very keen to continue to maintain my fitness throughout my pregnancy, so Ashley modified some of the movements and used aids to enable me to remain in the group class well into my pregnancy. It was comforting knowing that I was maintaining my fitness and being able to exercise safely right up to the week before I gave birth.

 

I returned to the Pilates Body three months after the birth of my daughter.

It's wonderful to be in a class with women who have been through the same journey and are seeking the same results from their pilates workout.  I also don't have to cancel my class when I can't find a babysitter as I'm welcome to bring my daughter along to the Mothers and babies class.

 

I'm so lucky to have found a pilates studio that is so flexible, has great instructors and that goes the extra mile to make pilates work for you - no matter what your situation.

The weekly Pilates Body class that I have been going to for three years is now very much part of my life structure, something I really enjoy and realise the benefits in both a physical and psychological sense.
